CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research is not only operating the largest machine ever built, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), but it also serves as a central hub for researchers from across the world, with up to 12,000 people on site served by hundreds of services. CERN was among the first to introduce IT service management principles outside the IT environment, applying ITIL based processes in a wide range of services across the whole organisation.

Join Gyorgy Balazs to learn about the 10 years of successful Enterprise Service Management at CERN.

Gyorgy is Head of Service Management in the Site and Civil Engineering department of CERN, leading a team that maintains a service management framework for over 300 services across the organisation in collaboration with CERN’s IT department. Previously Gyorgy oversaw the implementation of ITIL based service management in CERN’s Communications Systems team where he coordinated operations for 10 years, taking an active part in CERN’s service management journey from the beginning.
