Membership Levels & FAQs

itSMF UK is the country’s leading membership association for service management professionals – with members ranging from individual service management practitioners to large multinational organisations.

We have spent the last three decades helping ITSM professionals both to be better and to do better. The founding member of an international network of chapters, itSMF UK has followed a path of enriching the working lives of its members, encouraging personal development through events, training and guidance, and through recognition in our annual awards.

itSMF UK has also changed with the times, reflecting both the desire for greater professionalism in the ITSM community and the demand for ITSM thinking, principles and best practice outside the IT world, across business disciplines such as human resources and facilities. We understand that service management is not just an IT capability, it’s an organisational responsibility and commitment.

Our members range from large multinational companies to small firms working across the commercial, public, and not-for-profit sectors (you can see a sample of our member organisations here). As the de facto industry forum for service management, we embrace a wide cross-section of organisations, including:

  • ITSM suppliers and service providers
  • user organisations
  • training companies and academia
  • consultancy, standards and practice bodies
  • and independent professionals.


Altogether, we have over 150 member organisations covering 4,000+ individuals.

How will this benefit my organisation?

Membership is a great way to provide your team with the practical skills and knowledge to succeed. For less than the cost of ONE ITIL exam, itSMF UK membership provides 12 months’ access to a wide range of education, content, and networking opportunities.

How will this benefit me?

Ultimately, our message to any current or prospective member is that you get out what you put in. We have some great on-demand and published content that you can review at your leisure, but the real value in a membership forum like itSMF UK is the chance to learn, share and develop ideas with other members and guest presenters by attending the various events we offer.

What size of membership do we need?

The membership size is for you to decide and depends on how many of the team will benefit from our services. Membership is not related to the size of the organisation. Places are allocated to “named individuals” who create their own member profiles to access the Member Area and register for events.

Our current annual membership options are as follows:

  • Individual – £165
  • Full-time student – £50
  • Retired – £50
  • Military veteran – £85
  • Up to 3 people (SME) – £400
  • Up to 5 people (ENT5) – £650
  • Up to 10 people (ENT10) – £850
  • Up to 25 people (ENT25) – £1000
  • Up to 50 people (ENT50) – £1500
  • Up to 100 people (ENT100) –  £2500
  • Unlimited (CORP) – £5000

All prices exclude VAT at 20%.

Annual Conference & Awards
Our two-day conference with four tracks of presentations and networking. Includes our annual awards, celebrating the achievements of service management individuals and teams.

Masterclasses & Simulations
Created and facilitated by industry experts providing real-world guidance and advice, our interactive masterclass and business simulation events take a fresh approach to the challenges faced by today’s practitioners.

Webinars
One-hour focused events, featuring a subject matter expert or member-based case study. Join them on the day, engage through the Q&A, or catch up on demand!

Member Meet-ups
Informal learning through guest presentations and networking with service management professionals in your locality, where you can discuss issues of mutual interest with other members.

Communities of Practice
Exchange ideas and insights with like-minded members, focusing on areas of common interest, developing new guidance, and sharing knowledge and expertise with the broader membership.

Service Management Forums
Focusing on a particular industry theme, the Forum packs four presentations, Q&A, and break-out discussions into 3 hours on Zoom, a real opportunity to address the burning questions and challenges in the profession today.

Leadership Council
Help set the service management agenda with other senior industry professionals, debating issues of common concern and developing strategic guidance for our community.

Content & Publications
From our ServiceTalk magazine and white papers to pocket guides, articles, and blogs, access a wealth of advice and knowledge.

Skills & Maturity
Our Professional Skills Management Framework (PSMF) and ITSM Maturity Assessment service help organisations develop their team’s skills and overall service management maturity.

Which events should I attend?

The short answer is ‘it’s up to you’!

Last year we received over 2800 registrations across 96 events – there is something for everyone. But, if you can’t find the content you are looking for, just contact our Member Engagement Manager and we’ll either point you in the right direction or reach out to industry experts to provide the required content.

Our Masterclasses and conferences are chargeable (with preferential member rates), but the rest of the events are free to attend as part of your membership. Check out our upcoming event calendar or view the list of event recordings to see the variety of ITSM topics that we cover.

Note: PSMF Personal is also free to members but charges apply for the PSMF Business functionality and the ITSM Maturity Assessment service.

What will I gain from attending a conference?

ITSM23, our annual Conference, offers a very special experience to members. Whether you attend for one or two days, you have the opportunity to shape your personal agenda to your requirements, networking with other members to discuss potential solutions to your current service management challenges.

You can put yourself forward as a speaker and share your own experiences, or nominate colleagues for our annual awards and raise the profile of your most successful service management teams. In two content-filled days, you will gain access to the best advice and expertise the industry can offer.
