Community of Practice – Strategy and Planning Meeting

itSMF UK’s Communities of Practice (CoPs) provide the opportunity to bring together like-minded professionals to focus on areas of common interest. Our CoPs allow members to explore new ideas, challenge and discuss Service Management principles, practices, toolsets and frameworks.  If you have not heard of the Communities of Practice before or have yet to formally volunteer for a specific group, please click here for additional information.

Meeting Agenda

During our April meeting the Strategy and Planning Community of Practice reviewed and finalised the key topics which we will focus on in future meetings. ‘Frameworks’ was the most popular topic of interest and will be the theme for this May CoP meeting.

It was agreed that providing an independent view across the frameworks, in order to help members make an informed choice on which to adopt, would be an excellent resource for itSMF UK members. To this end, we will also define how best to summarise this material in formats that itSMF UK members can consume.

Discussion points:

• What IT Service Management frameworks are available and what each framework covers.
• The option of adopting good practice from more than one ITSM framework e.g. parts of ITIL and elements of VeriSM.
• Wider frameworks and how ITSM works with them – this could be COBIT for governance and controls, TOGAF for architecture, Agile for delivery, DevOps etc.

Through these discussions some good practice guidance and materials will be produced for itSMF UK members to use. It is expected that the Strategy and Planning CoP will also present at ITSM2021 using some or all of this content.
