Last year DWP embarked upon one of their largest CSI and process improvement initiatives: transforming their approach to Service Design by engaging earlier with project delivery teams – fully embracing the ITIL 4 principle of value co-creation and integrated practices.
Previously, their Service Design and Service Transition teams worked in parallel, which often resulted in duplicated effort, last-minute design re-work and compressed design timelines. By shifting the Service Design function left in the delivery lifecycle, they were able ensure that services are designed with robust architecture, clear interfaces, and embedded service management practices from the outset. This early engagement has led to smoother transitions, fewer surprises and services that truly meet business and customer needs.
