Online Masterclass – Digital Operating Model

21 May, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

Many organisations are transforming their IT delivery model covering new ways of working such as Agile development, DevOps, SRE, etc. as well as modernising their IT automation landscape using CICD pipelines, monitoring tools, AIOps, etc. At the same time the IT ecosystem is changing with new cloud services into a hybrid technology landscape (on-premises services, cloud native, containers, low code and many others).

But how do you bring all ingredients together into an end-to-end operating model? Optimising and automating end-to-end value streams? How does my future digital management blueprint need to evolve? How do I create the bigger picture of what good looks like? How do I manage this new hybrid multi-vendor ecosystem?

The purpose of this masterclass is to discuss how to create a modern digital operating model to manage the new digital reality This masterclass is an interactive class providing the ingredients and recipe to define, create and transform your target operating model, ready to manage this new digital reality of delivering: better value, sooner, safer, happier and cheaper (cost efficiency).

Target Audience

This event is aimed at the Beginner/Intermediate level with the target audience being people working in their own IT organisation with the responsibility for defining and improving their IT operating model, designing new processes, implementing new ways of working, automating IT activities, this includes for example:

  • Enterprise architects responsible for the IT management domain (creating the IT management architecture)
  • IT leaders responsible for defining their target operating model and roadmaps for the coming years
  • Internal IT specialists involved in defining and improving the end-to-end delivery model.

Facilitated by Rob Akershoek, an IT management/DevOps architect at DXC and Chair of the IT4IT Forum within The Open Group, this masterclass covers all areas / capabilities needed to build a modern digital operating model and you’ll learn how to blend different practices into an end-to-end operating model.

What will it involve?

The idea of this masterclass is to work interactively with all participants, discussing the theory and applying this to your own organisation. You will learn from stakeholders from other organisations dealing with similar challenges and address the following questions:

  • What are demands / requirements for a new digital delivery model? How does success look like? (e.g. better, sooner, safer, happier, etc.). What do I need to achieve?
  • What capabilities do you need in a modern digital operating model? Covering everything you need to plan, develop and operate digital services.
  • What practices should I use in my new operating model? How to combine different practices into an integrated model (covering SAFe, Agile, DevOps, ITIL, SRE, IT4IT, BRMBok, SIAM, etc.).
  • How to merge agile development, DevOps with IT service management practices?
  • How does the end-to-end process model look like?
  • What value streams do you need to design and optimise?
  • What roles and responsibilities do I need to define? How do roles change (e.g. product and platform owners)? What skills and competences do I need?
  • How to automate end-to-end workflows? What tools do I need to manage my IT?
  • How to create an IT automation blueprint e.g. covering CICD pipeline, test automation, monitoring, ITSM, etc. What are the trends related to the IT management tooling market?
  • What data do I need to manage my IT services and products? How to create a data driven IT organisation? How to create end-to-end traceability and transparency?
  • How do I work with external vendors / suppliers? What integrations do I need? How to create a multi-vendor management model?
  • How do I transition from my current state to a modern/target state operating model? How can I create a roadmap and iteratively improve my IT?
  • What metrics/KPIs should I use to manage, evaluate and improve my performance? And evaluating whether I am on the right track?
