Member meet-up – ITAM for business value

24 September, 2024, 09:30 - 15:00

Free

We know that we ought to be in control over how our IT assets are used. But that’s quite challenging in a world of widespread cloud usage, mobile apps and people using their own devices. What should we be doing? How does it add business value? And how do we demonstrate that to senior management?

Following the success of our joint event last year itSMF UK, BCS and ITAM Forum once again come together to share practical experience in IT asset management. Richard Horton (itSMF UK), Martin Thompson (ITAM Forum) and Stuart Dicken (BCS) would be delighted if you can join them for this interactive day. You will hear tales from the front line in a range of different organisational settings. We will also bring our collective experience and challenges to help us all.

10:30Business Value and KPIs – what sort of KPIs can we use to demonstrate ITAM is worth doing and how does that look in practice Brian White, Anglepoint

An ITAM management framework delivers value through clearly defining tangible asks of people, processes, and technology, and how the continuous evaluation of these three areas must align with the organisation’s required outcomes, measured by North Star Metrics. These are success measures, such as a monetary saving or compliance with a regulatory body. While evaluating the management system, you should assess whether the right Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have been set to benchmark and track departmental activities to achieve these business outcomes and achievements and remove any blockers. From the session, you’ll learn:

- How to define measurable North Star metrics
- How to align KPIs to drive the right behaviors
- The importance of trustworthy data
- Review & Report KPIs for stakeholder buy-in

Brian White, a certified FinOps practitioner, is a senior director at Anglepoint and has over 17 years experience in the ITAM industry. He has led teams to design, build and transform successful SAM practices, and provided solution architecture and roadmaps for SAM and cloud services.

Philip's scope goes across the whole University, while Deborah and Richard look after a specific area.
