This NEW Digital Transformation Experience from SXP offers a unique opportunity to understand the key interactions between business strategy, organisation, process and technology in the end to end product lifecycle. It challenges those in Tech Ops to optimise the stability of their existing services, while enabling the development and implementation of new services at an ever increasing velocity and an ever higher expectation of quality, not to mention an ever greater focus on risk.

The simulation examines different ways of working and technology solutions:

  • How Ways of Working such as ITIL® 4, DevOps & Agile complement each other
  • Experience how tools such as Kanban, Service Desk, Event Management and the DevOps toolchain sit together in the e2e product lifecycle
  • Experience how these tools and practices combine to drive a digital business with fast moving customer needs and market opportunities

The simulation not only brings to life the ‘How To’ of best practice theory, but is also designed to help leaders and their teams to solve real life business and technology challenges:

  • A fast moving competitive landscape
  • The demand for an agile, fail fast, MVP focused approach
  • Overcoming legacy thinking, capability, practice and dysfunctional culture
  • The need to balance on-premise and cloud strategies
  • The role of ITIL 4 practices ranging from portfolio management through incident, problem, change, configuration and others in the delivery and support of services
  • The role of DevOps and the toolchain to support moves to continuous delivery, integration and test all designed to meet customer demand
  • The role of value stream mapping with regards to shifting left across incident recovery and new service delivery in an agile manner
  • The relationship between the Business and the IT Enterprise – achieving the ‘right’ outcome

What will it involve?

The DTX simulation is a live, real-time experience that brings into sharp focus the impact the technology enterprise can have on the business, both positive and negative. It positions the challenge of transforming to a digital business, while managing a complex technology landscape.

The business scenario is an international airline, where the team is responsible for enabling the organisation to compete in an aggressive market place, where new challenger airlines are stealing market share. The key to success is collaboration between the Business, Dev and Ops, and is measured with a range of business KPI’s such as Customer Experience, Revenue per Hour, Green Index (Sustainability) and On Time Performance. Business strategy must be aligned to market data with new and upgraded services required to engage existing and acquire new customers, while driving internal efficiencies and supporting existing services.

The team has to manage a complex technology landscape which blends on-premise and cloud based services, while focusing on an enabling strategy that includes leveraging APIs and Microservices to reduce pressure and leverage economies of scale.

To achieve these goals new ways of working and technologies must be introduced, including ITIL 4, DevOps practises and Agile. There is also an opportunity to experience practices such as Kanban and value stream mapping.
