Community of Practice – Joint event – Responsibilities and Benefits of a SMO

19 October, 2022, 12:30 - 14:00
Free

itSMF UK’s Communities of Practice (CoPs) provide the opportunity to bring together like-minded professionals to focus on areas of common interest. Our CoPs allow members to explore new ideas, challenge and discuss Service Management principles, practices, toolsets and frameworks.  If you have not heard of the Communities of Practice before or have yet to formally volunteer for a specific group, please click here for additional information.

What will it involve?

As more organisations are looking to embrace enterprise service management, it is key that there is controlling body in place to ensure adherence to a common vision, direction, and solution for the organisation’s IT Service Management is achieved.  The Service Management Office (SMO) provides that control and governance.

This session on the Service Management Organisation will provide attendees with an understanding of:

  • What is an SMO in terms of its function and capabilities
  • What benefit does an SMO bring to your organisation
  • How should an SMO be organised, what is the difference between centralised and decentralised
  • Should it compliment or replace the PMO
