SFIA 8

Released late in 2021, SFIA 8 contains some significant updates to support professional development within the organisation.

From its origins as a framework for the ICT community, SFIA has evolved with version 8 to define the skills and competencies required by business and technology professionals who design, develop, implement, manage and protect the data and technology that power the digital world.

Why choose SFIA?

  • SFIA was formally launched in 2000, and has become the globally accepted common language for the skills and competencies related to information and communication technologies, digital transformation, cyber security and software engineering.
  • It provides a framework consisting of professional skills on one axis and seven levels of responsibility on the other.
  • It describes the professional skills at various levels of competence.
  • It outlines the levels of responsibility, in terms of the generic attributes of Autonomy, Influence, Complexity, Knowledge and Business Skills.
