Though many service management issues are common to all industries, not all sectors are alike when it comes to specific priorities and pain points.
With this in mind itSMF UK has recently introduced a series of online Sector Spotlights – modelled on our highly successful SM Forums but with a different twist. Each event, open to members and non-members from any organisation, is viewed through the lens of a particular sector.
The first in this series in April – Service Management in the Healthcare sector – featured sessions from NHS Wales on their ground-breaking work in digital delivery and a more unified nursing care record, and from NHS England on the challenges of the Pandemic and their agile approach to rolling out new NHS apps. They were supported by popular ITSM presenter Paul Wilkinson and by speakers from CGI (“Towards a net zero NHS”), HaloITSM (“Hybrid working in the NHS”) and Trickle (“Workplace improvements”). Our thanks to CGI and HaloITSM for sponsoring this event; recordings of the sessions are available in the member area.
Next, on 7th June, we will be turning to the higher education sector with Major Incidents & Cyber Security – Protecting our Universities. The agenda features timely contributions from the University of Oxford on their ambitious plans for major incident management, and from Northumbria University on the lessons learned from a serious cyber attack during the Pandemic. With sessions from CSI on planning for the unexpected, and a report on recent research from OpenText on cyber security across higher education, this Spotlight offers an engaging insight into the service management challenges facing our vulnerable universities.
Later in the year, we’ll be announcing dates for our Central Government and Financial Services Sector Spotlights, which will be exploring some key areas of governance and digital transformation. Keep an eye on the website for further information.
