It is important to put DR into perspective as there is a lot more to a disaster recovery plan than just having a fairly up to date copy of the data at the secondary site! A DR plan must have the inherent mechanism and procedures, which, when invoked after the failure at a primary site, will restore service to the users in a known time against operational objectives. This paper looks at some of the issues and the pitfalls.
