Workshop – Practical DevOps for ITSM

What is it?

Today’s business climate is one of disruption, which in turn is forcing IT to respond ever more rapidly to changing business demands.

Many forward-thinking organisations have implemented a DevOps culture, philosophy and practices to provide the agility needed to allow the business to develop and deliver real competitive advantage. DevOps offers ITSM professionals a significant opportunity to rapidly remove work and activities that they should not be focusing on, and instead allow them to focus on what really matters.

This workshop helps delegates to embrace DevOps culture and principles, discuss your existing ITSM processes and their evolution to support and grow a DevOps culture.

What does it involve?

You’ll answer the following:

• What is DevOps?
• What are the values and principles of DevOps?
• What are the 3 main movements of DevOps (Agile, Lean, ITSM)?
• What are the metrics of DevOps?
• What are some common terms and practices in DevOps?
• How do the 9 Principles of ITIL apply to DevOps practitioners at all levels?

It will also involve a brief overview of a DevOps technique called Value Stream Mapping.

This is going to be a quite interactive workshop with few slides and mostly discussion. There will also be exercises on metrics, value and Value Stream Mapping.

The target is any managers at any level in an organisation that wants to improve the use of technology, obtain collaboration, gain commitment and improve processes both within IT and also extend to the rest of the organisation.
