ItSMF UK North Regional Meeting

Date: 10 December 2015

Venue: Aviva, York

Welcome to the third and final North Region meeting of 2015.  The event, hosted by Aviva in York, will be an interesting and in-depth focus on IT Service Management disciplines, including a workshop targeting the way Service Management needs to adapt to help businesses deliver Digital and other innovation strategies.

Anna Leyland will open the meeting and introduce the expert speakers who have agreed to join us.

We’ll start with Ian Farquharson from ASDA, who will give us his insight to Security considerations from a global perspective.

Mark Bennett and Dan Steel will then share their experiences from Aviva (http://www.aviva.com):  “there has never been a greater need for ITSM with huge expectations for 24x7 digitally-based services.  However, responding is not easy, particularly as systems integration is hard with so many creaking legacy systems.  The transformation of IT support services in Aviva has followed a bold path, encompassing changes and challenges to the traditional set-up.  Self-service and customer-centric approaches have been embraced leading to a flagship integrated IT Care function.  This session will cover the journey that has been taken to get to where the support function is now, along with live demonstrations of the new approach to IT Service.”

David Papworth of HP (http://www.hp.com) will talk about IT4IT, a reference architecture that provides a prescriptive method and model for building up the IT solutions needed to manage the modern IT organisation. The aim is to help IT deliver the same level of business discipline and efficiency as other functions within the business.  This promises to be an interesting and practical overview of a new discipline.

After lunch we’ll hear from Jane Sleight from Sopra Steria (http://www.soprasteria.co.uk/en) who will talk about the issues faced by service professionals and asks, “What could we do differently to make ourselves better understood, admired and more responsive?  Are Agile and the digital future the answer?”

We’re then dedicating the afternoon to a collaborative workshop focusing on the way in which ITSM needs to adapt to keep pace with Digital, Agile and other innovations.  We’ll be working together to evaluate the issues and propose solutions for a range of considerations, including Human Augmentation, Cyber Security and Disintermediation.  This will be facilitated by Tim Difford, Sopra Steria’s Head of Social Business and Horizon Scanning, and Jen Smith from ASDA and will be a fascinating and collaborative insight to the future of ITSM.

We’ll finish with a summary of the day and, as it’s Christmas, a trip to the famous York festive markets afterwards.
