itSMF UK attended the prestigious British Computer Society (BCS) IT Industry Awards, sponsoring the Service Manager of the Year Award. The awards took place on 4^th December 2008 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

Megan Pendlebury, itSMF's Head of Service Management judged the award along with Maggie Kneller and Charles Chang (members of the BCS) and was pleased to select Claire Adams of Connecting for Health as The Service Manager of the Year. Megan commented "Claire's experience has been instrumental in the success of The Essential IT Skills Programme (EITS), a critical project which increases IT awareness; not only providing crucial skills but ensuring that users understand their responsibilities surrounding patient confidentiality." The EITS Programme is a national initiative having a potential impact on 1.3 million staff.

The runners up were Margaret Corrigan, Service Birmingham and Judith Rowe, AXA UK.
