This seminar takes place on 7th March 2012 at Sheffield City Hall

"Change, Configuration & Release Management"

Key learning outcomes of this seminar include:

  • Understand how change, configuration, and release management work individually and together
  • Learn how to change the attitude, behaviour, and culture in the whole of ICT
  • Learn how to maintain service availability using the three core processes
  • Learn how to maximise the value and optimise the costs of executing the processes
  • Discover how tools can help
  • Learn how to decide if you need a single or multiple Change processes
  • Learn which are the essential items of information to record and maintain in your CMS, and how to get started
  • Understand the differences and similarities between project management and release management
  • Discover the skill profiles of effective configuration, change and release managers
  • Learn how to effectively design, plan, schedule, package and deploy your releases

ITIL tells us that an effective configuration management system is fundamental to operating IT service management, yet only a small percentage of organisations claim to have one. Why?

Deploying new releases and making changes to ICT services and technology is a frequent activity, so we should be able to do it efficiently and effectively - we get enough practice! However, the biggest cause of disruption to users is the implementation of changes and releases. Why?

Robust, mature, and interlinked Change, Configuration, and Release Management is the bedrock of effective Service Management. With effective risk assessments, with pragmatic and accepted change and release policies, processes and procedures in place, we can avoid failure and major disruptions to the business.

"This seminar is targeted at change, configuration and release managers who want to ensure changes are successfully released into the live environment with minimal risk"

It features presentations from Rolls-Royce, University of Leeds, iCore & BSMimpact
