Welcome to the itSMF UK Transition Management SIG
The Change Configuration and Release Management (CCRM) Working Party was established in 2006 to underpin itSMF Special Interest Group (SIG) CCRM events and to manage and oversee the authoring of web site and hard copy publications of all the CCRM SIG material.
The aim of both the CCRM SIG and Working Party was to provide itSMF UK members with the best practical documentation on CCRM related matters and offered the "first place to come" for all CCRM material, templates, guides and practical help.
ITIL v3 has provided clearer guidance on CCRM, its boundaries & definitions, and has made the logical decision to realise that actually Changes, Releases, Make-Lives are actually all one thing........Transition Management. Because of this the CCRM SIG has decided to rename itself to something more akin to ITL v3 and what a lot of organisations actually practise, which is 'Transition Management'.
Our focus moving forward will be on helping practitioners and those with an interest in the topic to adopt a common understanding of what an RFC is, what a Change is and what a Release is, along with all other elements related to Transition Management. This will include 'new' areas such as Software Asset Management, 'federated' CMDBs and Request Fulfilment.
Deliverables of the Transition Management Working Party include:
- To establish a common code of practice.
- To provide a continuous review of the Transition Management processes (at both R&D and detailed operational levels)
- To facilitate a Forum for discussing issues. (SIG)
- To agree a common set of communication channels.
- To provide articles, white papers and speakers, under the banner of Transition Management, for the various itSMF UK communication vehicles - including e-Service Talk, day seminars, national conference etc.
