Welcome to the Service Level Mgt SIG
Welcome to the Service Level Management SIG website.
The SLM SIG was founded to provide a regular forum for like-minded practitioners, some with subject matter expertise in SLM, to work together to improve the overall level of knowledge provided to the wider itSMF UK community. The objectives set by the Service Level Management SIG include:
- to establish & share best practice guidelines
- to provide a continuous review of the Service Level Management process or function
- to confirm the scope of SLM processes and its interfaces with other ITIL processes & capabilities
- to provide articles and speakers, under the banner of the SLM SIG for various itSMF UK events & publications
- to contribute to the development of ITIL on SLM
Service Level Management: Next Generation (working title)
Following on from the successful first and second editions of our successful publication "Service Level Management: A Practitioner's Guide", the SLM SIG Working Party members are busy writing an advanced book.
The working party behind the SLM SIG meet regularly to ensure that itSMF UK members can enjoy the benefits of our shared experience. We review and discuss what issues should be addressed, in the form of guidelines, white papers or other materials. The wide-range of differing industries and service level management experience represented on the working party gives us an excellent baseline from which to contribute something back to the wider membership.
Service Level Management: A Practitioner's Guide - second edition
It took a year to get from concept to publication, but the SLM SIG working party hopes that the improvements and additional material over the first edition have proved an asset to SLM practitioners within the itSMF UK community. Following the publication of the first edition, the SIG working party held a number of public events to get constructive feedback on the material.
One gem in the second edition is the Process RACI matrix - if you're starting SLM from scratch, this could be a real bonus to your implementation. The chapter on Small Scale Implementation (see Brett Andrew's review) also adds a new dimension to the book. Whether you're a large or small organisation, you will find material in the second edition to get you well on your way to implementing SLM. Happy reading!
We welcome any feedback you have on our public events, white papers and publications. All feedback is reviewed by the working party and incorporated into our improvement activities.
We hope to see you at our next public event!
