Sustainable IT Service Management Special Interest Group
The IT Service Management Forum (itSMF UK) facilitates the work of a number of Special Interest Groups, run by itSMF UK members. Each SIG aims to develop leadership and best practice in their specific area, through the sharing of experience, advice and techniques. The newest of the SIGs, launched in September 2009, is the "Green IT SIG".
Chaired by John Godwin (Head of Compliance & Business Services at Attenda), with Paul Brayford (Head of BIS Relationship Managers at the Audit Commission) as vice chair, the Sustainable IT Service Management SIG is driven by an active Working Party, formed of professionals from across the public and private sectors, and including a number of respected experts in this field.
Whilst very much in its early days, the Sustainable IT Service Management SIG aims to enhance IT Service Management by providing a central point of knowledge on the subject, promoting relevant research activities, monitoring and advising on environmental legislation and ultimately creating a framework of best practice and measurement to develop and support the concept of "Sustainable IT Service Management". The work of the SIG can be drawn upon by itSMF UK members through the provision of events and the issue of useful collateral material which will add value to the membership.
With environmental performance a key element of social responsibility strategies within many business and organisations Sustainable Service Management is a realistically achievable objective from which all can derive great benefit.
