Welcome to the Public Sector SIG

ITIL is one of the most powerful improvement tools in the IT industry and the public sector is where it all began. The ongoing need to ensure that the public money we are entrusted with is spent in the most effective way means that public bodies are continually at the forefront of best practice and innovation. This however is not always recognised by the rest of the industry.

I see the SIG as having two main purposes. Firstly, we need to share our experiences, innovations and, sometimes, mistakes, so that we can all benefit and improve. Secondly we need to collate the common messages and feed them into the ongoing development of the ITIL framework.

The public sector is a diverse space from the smallest health bodies, working on a shoestring budget, to a large government department with huge resources. The SIG has to be relevant to us all and this, I feel, is our greatest challenge
