Welcome to the Central Regional Group

Events for the Members,Run By the Members

Faced with many challenges or 'opportunities' as I like to frame 'challenges', leaders, managers, Service Management peers will all be wondering how can they make a difference to the success or otherwise of their organisation.

"Despite possessing an awareness of the ITIL framework, many of us would still benefit greatly from having enablers available for us to utilise, enablers such as itSMF UK regional events, publications or even the Ask the Expert portal, and other like minded opportunities. It is often the 'pragmatic approach to...coupled with the real life 'war stories' that are missing from our organisational capabilities, that will ultimately help us as Service providers not only deliver services and Infrastructure, but allow us to also manage and support our IT Infrastructure in order to facilitate the delivery of required Business outcomes"

The itSMF UK members have an ideal opportunity to obtain up to date information from peers working in the Service Management arena by attending quarterly Central and other regional meetings. Or even volunteer to 'present' at a future event on a topic they feel would enlighten and further enhance other professionals in their approach to either implementing ITIL for the first time, to reviewing and improving their Service Management capabilities.

We are now half way through what has already been an interesting and busy year to date from a Service Management perspective, however I do feel that perhaps members are not using all of the sources that are available to them. As Chair of the Central regional nothing would please me more than to see new faces at the remaining 2 regional events for 2011, followed by a continued attendance at future events.

The events are free to itSMF members to attend, all you need to do is look out for updates on the itSMF UK website advertising the events, and register your interest to attend, you will then receive details of the meeting, the agenda from the Events team, all you then need to do is turn up at the event and get involved.

As always with my messages to the members and my fellow Service Management colleagues, I would also like to hear of more members offering to 'host' future events or even offer themselves as future presenters on a topic that they feel will serve the membership from a learning and networking perspective. I look forward to seeing good attendances at future Central regional events, and to also hearing that we have venues and dates secured for 2012. Enjoy the remainder of this year and remember...'the challenges we face are also our opportunities to make a difference...' Let's do it!
