IT efficiency programmes typically involve consolidation, virtualisation and, more recently, cloud adoption. These initiatives massively increase the density of compute resource within datacentres, requiring step changes in the complexity and functionality of power and cooling technologies to support this dense computing. This, in turn, demands tight integration between data centre facilities management and management of the IT infrastructure. Traditionally silo'd approaches to datacentre facilities and IT infrastructure management are no longer viable.
This presentation introduces those in ITSM to recent radical changes in datacentre design, and explains how ITIL is critical to achieving the essential integration between Datacentre Facilities and ITSM. |
