Megan Pendlebury
Service Management Executive

Biography
Description of Role and Responsibilities:
Currently most of my time is spent working on Project Phoenix (the project to replace the website along with all of our back office systems). The work involves managing the third party supplier who is developing the system and co-ordinating all of the testing activities within the office. The next stages are to ask some of the Members to test the systems and then to demo them at conference to anyone who is interested in having a look.
I also manage the Special Interest Groups; this involves working with the Chairs of these groups to ensure that the content, collateral and venues are organised for these meetings and suit the requirements of the itSMF membership.
I monitor and run the Ask the Experts service; where there is a question which is within my ability and experience to answer then I will do that. Where multiple ideas and views are required or it is relating to a specialist area that I am not so comfortable with then I have a panel of experts who I can contact to ask the questions.
I often spend time out of the office talking to both members and non-members about Service Management and ITIL trying to aid their understanding.
Average Day:
An average day for me at an event would involve meeting and greeting the delegates over a cup of coffee and ensuring that the day runs smoothly. Each event has someone chairing it who is running the day whilst I am on hand to provide an update on the itSMF and ensure that all of the output from the day is owned by someone moving forwards (often I bring it back to the office to type up before passing onto someone else).
An average day in the office begins with catching up on what is going on with the Project, activities that are complete, issues that have been raised and meetings with colleagues and suppliers. I also pick up on any Ask the Experts questions or general questions on Service Management or Best Practices and ensure that the members are responded to appropriately.
What do you enjoy most?
I enjoy the fact that all days are different, I love getting out of the office to meet people at the events I attend and look forward to expanding the role further in the coming months once Project Phoenix is finished and the systems are in production.
