Mark Lillycrop
Publications Manager

Biography
Description of Role and Responsibilities:
My job involves managing the development of itSMF publications. This includes looking for opportunities to expand and promote our publication and bookstore portfolio and making sure updates take place as appropriate. I am also responsible for managing the translation of several new ITIL V3 books into various languages in conjunction with itSMF chapters around the world.
Average Day:
Most days start with a trawl through the email; responding to queries about forthcoming publications or questions about translation projects. After that, I might draft a new reseller agreement, discuss a proof with the printers, make sure that a new publication or translation is moving correctly through the quality assurance process, or remind our contacts at the international chapters about a special offer coming up in the bookstore. Increasingly there are also meetings or phone discussions, for example with TSO (the ITIL book publishers) or with members of the publications executive sub-committee, where many of the strategic decisions on publications are made.
What do you enjoy most?
Apart from the fine company at itSMF (and of course the stunning scenery in Winnersh Triangle!), I enjoy working in such a dynamic part of the IT industry. Service management is maturing fast. ITIL is also at an important stage in its development, and it's great to be involved with the people who are making it happen. I also enjoy the variety of this job and helping people in different parts of the world to work together effectively.
