Biography

Description of Role and Responsibilities:

I am the Events Manger and working with the Events team we run a number of different types of events to help members to share knowledge and network. My main responsibilities include organising seminars throughout the year in different locations around the UK, co-ordinating a number of our Special Interest Group meetings and managing the speakers for our Annual Conference. Along with my colleagues, I also organise the general logistics of the conference and the evening entertainment which involves booking entertainment, liaising with our AV company and managing the overflow hotel accommodation.

Average Day:

An average day for me usually starts with checking my e-mails and answering any queries on events that are coming up. I would usually need to start looking for speakers for upcoming events and chasing for synopsis' from confirmed speakers. If there is an event coming up I would spend quite a lot of time liaising with the venue and sorting out the logistics of the day, this involves confirming the agenda, organising build-up times and booking AV equipment.

What do you enjoy most?

I enjoy the fact that my role has a lot of different aspects to it and that every event brings a new challenge. I particularly enjoy working on our annual conference and venue searching for our seminars.
