Industry Alliances
The itSMF is always happy and willing to work with other organisations that have interests in common. Among the key organisations with whom we currently share arrangements are:
British Computer Society (BCS)
The relationship with BCS operates at several different levels - itSMF has a representative on the BCS Management Forum, there are a number of joint initiatives under discussion with BCS itself and finally, there is a relationship with the subsidiary Information Systems Examination Board (ISEB).
British Standards Institution (BSI)
itSMF works closely with BSI - initially in developing the formal Standard for ITSM, BS 15000, and now that it has become an ISO standard, through them to the ISO SC7 work group.
In addition to a large portfolio of formal ICT Standards, BSI publishes Guides, Codes of Practice, Workbooks and various other publications to help organisations understand the requirements of formal ICT standards and exploit their use. Related Workshops and Seminars help users understand and implement the standards and codes of practice that we publish.
Under the reciprocal agreement between the parties, itSMF members enjoy discounts for attendance on BSI-organised seminars.
Office of Government Commerce (OGC)
OGC is an office of HM Treasury. Set up in 2000, it incorporates the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency (CCTA), which no longer operates as a separate agency.
The OGC is now the authority for best practice in commercial activities in UK government, combining a number of separate functions with related aims.
The OGC will build on the popular guidance developed by the former CCTA and others, working with organisations internationally to develop and share business and practitioner guidance within a world-class best practice.
As well as ITIL, OGC also produces PRINCE2, Programme Management, Model Agreements, Business Systems Development with SSADM and IS Management Guides in partnership with Format Publishing.
